Schools, Programs, and Degrees for Corrections Officers
As a corrections officer you'll need to build positive relationships with prisoners while maintaining boundaries and control. Correction officers will always be in demand due to the simple fact that crime is not going to go away. With that in mind, the requirements to apply for the position of a corrections officer is only that you be 18yrs old. (Some facilities will require you to be 21.) If you want to apply to the federal government as a corrections officer you will need to attain one of the following degree:
- Bachelors in Criminal Justice
- Bachelor's Degree with emphasis on Corrections Officer
- Bachelor's Degree in Juvenile Justice
Corrections officers that work for the federal government are able to take of advantage of more perks then state corrections officers and have great job stability.
