P.I. Program and Training
There is no official academic requirement to become a private investigator. If you want to stay competitive and one-up the competition, make sure that enter either a 2 year associates program or a 4-year bachelors program for a criminal justice related field. Below are some degree listed:
- BS in Criminal Behavior
- AS in Specialized Technology *with emphasis on private investigation
- BS in Criminal Justice
- BS in Police Science
- BS in Computer Science
While it is not necessarily required, it will represent that you have extensively studied some of the skills that will be necessary for you to successfully complete your work as a private investigator. There are also private detective schools that you may attend to help you develop some of the skill required.
