A criminal investigator is responsible for attempting to solve crimes, examining records and back trails, analyzing evidence, detaining subjects and conducting interviews and searches.  They are the officials who seek to understand where a criminal may strike next and prepare to meet these criminals head on.  They spend lots of time analyzing evidence in and outside the field and prepare reports about their findings to communicate these results to others working alongside them.
