Studying Criminal Justice

On this page are some items about which I get frequent requests for information. Topics currently provided include:

Where to find textbooks

If you give yourself a few days head start, it is possible to find some good textbook prices at online bookstores and have them delivered in time for the second or third class period. Start with BooksPrice, Best Book Buys or AAABookSearch, which are comparative shopping sites that give you price, availability, shipping times, and cost for any book at many online stores. Online bookstores geared specifically to the college textbook market are increasingly popular. Most will buy back your books at term's end and a few will even pay shipping costs. Check out VarsityBooks, or, visit the Top Ten Links site and see the ratings for online textbook sites.

Financial Aid

Start with The Student Guide from the U.S. Department of Education. Then check some of the sites below for additional information. Then try the  FastWeb Free Scholarship Search.   Also very helpful (although it has an annual fee depending on how many award matches you want to see) is the College Scholarship Search Services provided by College and University.net.

Study Aids & Test Preparation

Kaplan's GRE offers test prep, guidance on applying to graduate school, and financial aid information for prospective graduate school students.

Get Prepped offers LSAT, GMAT, MCAT, and GRE classes and self study material.

PowerScore, and  PrepMaster and offer opportunities to prepare for the Law School Admissions Test.

TestSherpa offers free LSAT preparation materials. Run by a man known only as "M" (the secrets they give away for free are so sensitive that they protect his true identity), TestSherpa's students have entered Harvard, Boalt Hall School of Law, Georgetown University, Claremont Colleges and many more prestigious universities.

TestMasters LSAT The TestMasters LSAT Course is longer than the Kaplan and Princeton Review courses combined, with eighty hours of live, in-class instruction. TestMasters also has the highest instructor standard in the industry--all of their instructors have scored in the 99th percentile on an actual LSAT administration.

Online Courses

Visit College and University.net for a excellent selection of college and university online and on campus programs. The site's college search wizard simplifies the process and presents you with the school that fits your needs.
